Sarah Nitz – Skate Team

Hi,

I'm Sarah, and I started skating in 2020.

My goal is to have fun and keep learning new things – whether in skating or life.

Skating is not just a hobby for me; it has truly enriched my life.

Sarah Nitz

Profile

1. Year of Birth:

2006

2. When did I start skating?

In 2020, I visited a skatepark for the first time, immediately fell in love with skating, and got my first aggressive inline skates a few months later.

3. Personal Motto:

Have fun and feel good.

4. Why SkaMiDan?

„Sarah radiated endless joy and passion for aggressive skating in her social media skate clips. SkaMiDan stands for having fun without pressure to perform, and that’s exactly why I (Daniel) had to ask Sarah to join our skate team."

5. Why do I skate for SkaMiDan?

I skate for SkaMiDan because it's so much more than just a team.

There’s a family-like atmosphere where you can truly be yourself.

Humanity always comes first, and I really appreciate that, as it's not always a given.

6. Skate disciplines:

Aggressive Inline Skating

7. In which skate discipline do I feel most comfortable?

Aggressive inline skating is where I feel most at home.

I've tried distance skating, scooters, and skateboards, but nothing has ever come close to aggressive inline skating.

8. Favorite skate spots:

My absolute favorite:

  • Reithalle Ulm

Other spots I love:

  • Mini Ramp in Ravensburg
  • Skateboardpark Podgora (Croatia) – small but amazing with incredibly kind people

9. Biggest achievement in skating?

Without trying to sound cliché: My greatest achievement in skating is being part of the SkaMiDan team.

I've learned so many new things, made so many new friends (most of whom feel more like family), and had the best experiences – many of which only became possible through SkaMiDan.

10. Inspiration

I'm mainly inspired by other skaters whose style I admire, as well as by skate sessions with others.

11. Which trick impresses me the most?

Flips, very difficult tricks, and multiple switch-ups impress me the most.

I mean, how is it even possible to be completely in control while upside down, without fear, or to float over a rail with countless switch-ups?

12. Dream trick(s):

  • A smooth backflip without fear (Aggressive Inline Skating)
  • A Rocket Fishbrain (Aggressive Inline Skating)

13. Favorite trick(s):

  • Breakdance (a trick invented by Gino Dangers)
  • Alleyoop Pornstar Grind
  • Kindgrind
  • Unity Grind

14. Favorite skate brands:

  • USD (Universal Skate Design)
  • Them Skates

15. Favorite skates:

  • THEM x WKND 909 Orange

16. Skate goal:

My goal is to be able to skate for as long as possible, even as I get older.

Of course, I also want to have a lot of fun and learn many new tricks.

17. Music while skating:

I listen to something different all the time. My favorite music changes constantly.

If I have a new favorite song at the beginning of the week, I might listen to it so much that I can't stand it by the next week.

18. What motivates me?

Watching other skaters motivates me a lot because I can see exactly how the tricks are done and use that as a reference when trying them myself.

19. My tips and skate hacks for other skaters:

Ask as many bladers as possible. There's a reason they say, „If you don’t ask, you stay ignorant." If you get the chance, ask skaters to explain tricks you don’t understand.

Film yourself! If a trick just won’t work even though you feel like you're doing everything right, film yourself or prop your camera against a bottle. A change in perspective often helps.

Listen to your body.

It might sound obvious, but in reality, it often isn’t.

If you feel like you can’t go on, or something hurts in a way that doesn’t feel right, take a break.

Your health is the most important thing and shouldn’t be neglected (which obviously includes wearing a helmet and pads).

20. My first skate:

My very first pair of skates was a cheap supermarket kids' inline skate.

A model I’d rather call a "single-use product."

But my first aggressive inline skates were the USD Realm Black.

21. Favorite movie or series:

Definitely Back to the Future – the best movie ever made!

I’ve already watched it over 20 times, and I’m sure I’ll watch it at least 20 more times.

22. Favorite food:

I have many favorite dishes that change over time.

Right now, it’s Shashlik (Sarah’s version with sausages) made by my dad.

23. Am I passionate about things other than skating?

I’m passionate about many things.

I love learning new things, like languages and words.

I’m also very interested in filmmaking and storytelling.

24. Do I have other hobbies besides skating?

I’ve been playing the piano since I was six years old, I love writing stories, drawing, and making short films.

25. What excites me about my other hobbies?

What excites me about my hobbies is that I can completely forget about everything around me and just have pure fun.

It's like stepping into another world where nothing else matters, and I feel absolute happiness.

26. Fun facts / Personal things:

As much as I can get excited about almost everything, there are a few things I absolutely hate:

  • Loud chewing noises
  • Mind maps (way too confusing)
  • Small talk (if you want to have a conversation, we can skip the formalities – there are more interesting topics than the weather)

One of my biggest life goals is to know a lot so I can tell great stories and to learn how to accept things as they are – without feeling guilty about considering some things unimportant.

For example, I really admire my grandmother for her happy, wise outlook on life – she is a huge role model for me.

Sarah Nitz – SkaMiDan Skate Team

Sometimes, a great passion begins in a place where you least expect it. That’s how it was for me with inline skating, which initially played almost no role in my life.

But a random trip to the skatepark and discovering SkaMiDan changed everything – setting me on a journey that not only enriched my hobby but also my life.

The starting signal

As a child, inline skating was never really one of my interests.

I did have a pair of inline skates, which I used maybe once every three years, but for the most part, they just collected dust in the closet.

In January 2020, while I was out skating with my little cousin, we decided to make a quick stop at the skatepark.

I already knew the park, as I had been there several times before with my skateboard or scooter.

So, we headed over, and there we were, trying out small ramps on shaky legs. Honestly, I don’t know how or why, but suddenly, I found myself enjoying skating. From that day on, I started going to the park more and more often, gradually expanding the range of ramps I could skate on.

At some point, I realized that what I had been doing for months was actually an entire sport—and not only that, it even had a name: I discovered Aggressive Inline Skating.

My first aggressive inline skates

When I realized that my inline skates were about to fall apart, I got my first pair of aggressive inline skates for Easter. From that moment on, I could be found at the skatepark every single day.

Although I was the only blader among many scooter riders, skateboarders, and BMXers, I quickly learned tricks through videos on social media – where I also came across SkaMiDan for the first time.

At the park, friendships were formed, and soon I was spending every free moment skating – not with other bladers, but with people from different disciplines. Thanks to the pandemic and homeschooling, this meant skating every single day.

Every now and then, I did spot the occasional blader, which always felt like a highly extraordinary event to me.

SkaMiDan Team

In mid-2021, I was welcomed into my second family: the SkaMiDan Team.

Having reached out to Daniel about six months earlier, it felt like a dream come true. I was warmly welcomed and had the chance to meet the other team members.

It felt like months before I finally stopped grinning from ear to ear.

From that point on, I started meeting more and more bladers, and I even got to skate with them.

Skatehalle – Reithalle Ulm

In mid to late 2022, I skated at the Reithalle Ulm for the first time, where I would soon meet the people I now skate with once a week.

More and more friendships began to form, and I slowly started to realize that with my new "hobby," I hadn't just opened the door to countless new friendships, loads of fun, and pure joy for life – I had also become part of a huge, worldwide family called „Aggressive Inline Skating."

Winterclash – Eindhoven

A family where everyone's goal is to have fun and skate together. This realization was solidified when I attended Winterclash for the first time in 2023.

To describe the atmosphere in one sentence: A hall filled with people, and the extraordinary thing is – if you fall, at least 10 helping hands are immediately reaching out to you.

joy and gratitude

To this day, I’ve skated in various parks (though most often at the Reithalle Ulm, which is, without a doubt, the best skatepark for me), where I’ve had the chance to meet many amazing new people.

Happy Sarah

In conclusion, I want to express my gratitude to everyone I’ve had the privilege of meeting so far. Thank you, SkaMiDan, thank you, Ulm, and thank you to everyone. I’d love to list you all individually, but this text would go on forever if I did.

With that, I wrap up my story and look forward to everything that lies ahead and everyone I’ve yet to meet.

My favorite skate disciplines

Aggressive Inline Skating

When I'm Aggressive Inline Skating, I forget the world and am fully present in the moment. It challenges my mind, pushes my physical abilities, and constantly teaches me something new.

Welcome to the SkaMiDan Team

The following video is my welcome edit and my first video release with and for SkaMiDan.

Unity Grind – Trick Clip Advanced

I make the biggest progress when I watch other Aggressive Skaters mastering a trick.

That's exactly why I want to share my knowledge and skills in Aggressive Skating.

Together with SkaMiDan, I regularly release trick clips and tutorials to help other skaters and share the passion for this sport.
